Kingston Postcard Conversations-Interactive Talks at the Friends of Historic Kingston | Tours & Lectures
The Friends of Historic Kingston will present “Kingston Postcard Conversations”, a weekly series of eight interactive talks scheduled for Fridays at Noon. This week the topic is Court House/ Senate House – Paul O’Neill, Ulster County Commissioner of Jurors.
The talks will take place in the Friends of Historic Kingston Gallery with the current exhibit, “Greetings Form Kingston: A Story in Postcards” serving as the backdrop. The show features 100 vintage postcards with images of the city’s streets, parks, buildings and vistas that reveal the essence of Kingston’s character and identity over centuries. Using the visual snapshots of history that postcards provide, this exhibition will inspire these conversations of the story of Kingston’s growth and rich store of architecture. The talks are free and open to the public.

RONDOUT NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT WALKING TOUR | Tours & Lectures
The Friends of Historic Kingston are pleased to offer the RONDOUT NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT WALKING TOUR. Hear how the historic waterfront district of Kingston mushroomed from farmland into a thriving maritime village and major Hudson River port during the heydays of the Delaware & Hudson Canal (1828-1898) which terminated here. View the legacy of residential, commercial and ecclesiastical architecture built by the “melting pot” of nationalities that migrated to Rondout in the nineteenth century. Approximately 2 hours with some uphill walking. Fee: $5 adult, $2 child under 16. Meet outside the Kingston Heritage Area Visitor Center, 20 Broadway at 11:00 a.m. Group tours offered by appointment. Stockade National Historic District Walking Tour | Tours & Lectures
The Friends of Historic Kingston are pleased to offer the STOCKADE NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT WALKING TOUR
Enjoy a narrated tour of the largest still extant early Dutch settlement in New York State and the neighborhood where York State was born in 1777. View the many 18th century limestone houses still standing. Visit the courthouse site where New York State’s Constitution was written and adopted and the gravesite in the Old Dutch Churchyard of New York’s first governor George Clinton. Enjoy a tour of the interior of the c. 1812 Fred J. Johnston House which showcases the noted antiques dealer private collection of antique furnishings in eight elegant room settings.
