August 1st – The Hudson River Maritime Museum presents “Follow the River” Lecture Series: Rich Bala, Folk Balladeer, Traditional American Folk Music presenting “The Sound of Work: Work Songs of the Hudson Valley”
A traditional folk balladeer, Bala will discuss and perform authentic, traditional folk music that weaves a tale of living history about our nation’s people and heritage. His songs come from the waterways, lumber camps, farms and homes of those who helped shape the legacy of our folk culture, and forged the traditions of our nation’s identity and experiences.
7:00 pm, “Green Room” $5 suggested donation or “pay what you wish”; HRMM members free. Plus the 1929 beautifully restored classic ketch, Belle Aventure, docks for several months undergoing routine maintenance; one of the last large yachts designed by William Fife and Sons.
