Let’s Move Ulster

June 4th, 2012

“Let’s Move! Ulster” is a series of FREE events that provide active programming on a rotating basis throughout Ulster County. Sponsored by the Ulster County Health Department, in collaboration with the Center for Creative Education, “Let’s Move! Ulster 2”will be held at Dietz Stadium in Kingston on June 13th from 6 – 7:30pm. Fitness Demo’s, Group Dances, Fun Activities and Nutritional Information will be available for all age groups so the entire family can enjoy!

“Let’s Move! Ulster” started out as a grassroots collaborative effort, inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, to provide free and healthy physical activities for Hudson Valley families. Bryant “Drew” Andrews is the guiding force behind this inspiring program. Working with our youth is a passion that reaches to the heart of Drew’s work as a community activist as well as his over 20 years as a health and fitness professional. He connects easily with kids because they admire his street smarts and sense his sincerity while mentoring them towards positive change and healthy lifestyle choices.  He has a vision for a happier, healthier community and it begins with “Let’s Move! Ulster”.

In 2011, Drew founded the “Let’s Move! Ulster” initiative; successfully bringing more than 800 people together at Dietz Stadium for a one day fitness event. The success of that amazing afternoon led to the Ulster County Department of Health collaborating with the Center for Creative Education, at which Drew is the Artistic Wellness Director, to create a year round program of “Let’s Move” events throughout Ulster County. Each of these FREE events will provide health and fitness demo’s, take home activities, group dances and inspiring ideas to get family, friends and the community moving together.  This program is the gateway to change, a way to encourage and empower Hudson Valley residents to come together and create their own sustainable, free fitness initiative. It inspires us to rediscover the JOY that can be found in movement.
